Notch valley & surrounding lanes

The tap is dripping, the cylinder is cold, and nobody has called you back.

We are a two-van plumbing and heating outfit working the Notch valley. Leaks, blockages, hot water faults and full bathroom fits — priced before the spanners come out.

What we fix

Six lanes of work. Find yours.

Most jobs land in one of these. If yours does not, describe it in the request form and we will tell you honestly whether it is ours or a job for a specialist.

01

Emergency leaks and burst pipes

Water where it should not be. We talk you through isolating the supply on the way, then stop the leak, dry-test the run and make the repair permanent rather than patched.

Burst joints · Failed compression fittings · Ceiling stains · Overflowing cisterns

02

Hot water and cylinders

Lukewarm showers, noisy tanks, immersion elements that have given up. We test the cylinder, thermostat and controls together instead of replacing the first part we reach.

Unvented cylinders · Immersion elements · Thermostats · Pressure faults

03

Taps, toilets and small repairs

The half-hour jobs that quietly waste water for months. Cartridges, washers, flush valves and seals — usually done inside one visit with parts carried on the van.

Dripping mixers · Running toilets · Seized isolators · Leaking traps

04

Bathrooms and en-suites

First and second fix for a full room change, working alongside your tiler and electrician. We set out the pipework before anything is boarded so the finish sits where you drew it.

First fix · Shower valves · Waste re-runs · Second fix and commissioning

05

Drainage and blockages

Slow sinks, gurgling showers and smells that come back each week. We clear the blockage, then look for the cause — fall, fat build-up, or a vent that was never fitted.

Kitchen waste · Shower traps · External gullies · Recurring smells

06

Radiators and heating pipework

Cold at the bottom, cold at the top, or cold entirely. Balancing, bleeding, valve swaps and pipe alterations when a room is being changed or a radiator moved.

Balancing · TRV replacement · Moving radiators · Airlocks

How a callout runs

You should know the cost before we start.

Four steps, the same every time, whether it is a washer or a whole bathroom.

Step 01

You describe it

Send the form with a short description and a photo if you have one. Most enquiries get a written reply the same working day with a realistic slot.

Step 02

We agree the visit

You get a named two-hour window, not a full day. We confirm the callout rate in writing beforehand so nothing arrives as a surprise.

Step 03

Diagnosis, then a price

We find the fault before quoting the fix. If the repair runs past the first hour or needs an ordered part, we stop and give you the figure to approve.

Step 04

Tested and tidied

Every repair is run under pressure before we pack up, the area is left clean, and you get a written note of what was changed for your records.

Before we arrive

Three minutes now saves a ceiling later.

Worth doing while you wait for a van — and worth knowing before you ever need one.

Under-sink isolation valves — the first thing we look for
  1. Find the stopcock before you need it

Usually under the kitchen sink or near where the main enters the house. Turn it fully off and on twice a year so it does not seize shut — a stopcock that will not move is the reason small leaks become large ones.

  2. Use the local isolator first

Most taps and toilets have a small in-line valve on the feed pipe with a slot for a flathead screwdriver. Turning that quarter-turn stops one fitting without shutting water off for the whole house.

  3. Clear the working space

Empty the cupboard under the sink, move what is stored around the cylinder, and put a towel down. It sounds small, but it routinely takes twenty minutes off the visit and keeps the charge lower.

Questions

The ones we are asked most weeks.

Do you charge for the time spent working out what is wrong?

Diagnosis sits inside the first hour of the callout, so there is no separate investigation fee. If the fault needs more than an hour to trace — a leak under a floor, for instance — we stop at the hour mark and tell you what further time would cost before carrying on.

What happens if the part you need is not on the van?

We make the situation safe, take the details of the fitting and order the part the same day. There is no second callout charge for the return visit on the same fault — you pay only for the additional working time and the part at cost.

Is the out-of-hours rate charged for anything urgent?

It applies to work that genuinely cannot wait: an uncontrolled leak, no water at all, or no heating in cold weather with a vulnerable person in the house. A dripping tap or a slow drain is booked into normal hours at the standard rate, which is almost always cheaper for you.

Do you take on work for landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We arrange access directly with the tenant, send the report and invoice to the account holder, and photograph the work where a record is needed. Repeat properties can be set up on a single account so each job does not need re-approving from scratch.

Can you work alongside a tiler, electrician or kitchen fitter?

That is how most bathroom and kitchen jobs run. We book first fix around the other trades' dates and return for second fix once the surfaces are finished. Give us the fitter's schedule with your enquiry and we will tell you whether it is realistic.

How do you handle payment and paperwork?

Repairs are invoiced by email after the visit, payable by bank transfer within seven days. Quoted installation work is staged: a deposit to book the dates and secure materials, with the balance on completion once you have signed off the finished room.
